Kanthaadoordhvam viniryaati praanaah yaanchaaksharaih saha.
Dadaameetyaksharairdatuh punah shrotraadvishanti tey.

Kanthaadoordhvam = kanthaat + oordhvam.    Kanthaat = from the
throat's.        Oordhvam = upper region.       Viniryaati = go out.

Shrotraat +vishaanti.     Shrotraat = from the ears.     Vishaanti =

mind.  Tey =  they.

i.e.         When a person begs or solicits something from  another
person, while uttering such words from the upper portion of his throat,
he feels as if his breathe of life will go out.   But when he hears the
the affirmative words of the giver from his own ears,  he again gets
his peace of mind.

( In this Subhashita the psychological state of mind of  a person
soliciting some favour from another person has been highlighted
beautifully.)

Kanthe madah kodravajah hrudi taamboolajo madah.

various spices affects the mind.   But the intoxication  (pride) due
to possessing immense wealth affects not only the entire body and
mind of the person concerned but also can be seen on the faces of
his wife and children.

(The above Subhashita while classifying various types of intoxicants
says that the intoxication (pride) by possessing immense wealth is
the most potent among all intoxicants.)

i.e.         Wise and knowledgeable persons throw light only on those
aspects of  knowledge in which they are  thoroughly conversant  and
can repeat by rote out of their memory.  Only foolish persons misuse
their incomplete knowledge gained from their teachers and books, and
mislead every one.

(The above Subhashita explains the difference between a real scholar and
a  not properly educated foolish person . Now a days in the field of primary
education there is dearth of well educated persons and incompetent teachers
are rather misleading the students instead of guiding them .)

impediment in having friendship with noble and virtuous persons.

wearing ornaments made of pearls,

(Through this Subhashita the importance of a courteous and pleasing
nature has been propagated for enhancing the beauty and charm of a
person in comparison to the artificial means

the benevolence and kindness of God Almighty to all living
beings on this Earth.  All this is explained beautifully  in a
Hindi film song, whose link on U Tube is given above.  The
song is worth listening.)

by me on the 19th January,2017, wherein this matter has also been
discussed in connection with assassination of Baali, the King of
monkeys by Lord Ram.)

diversities and peculiarities are created by Nature an are an
intrinsic part of their behaviour.

i.e.     One should never take recourse to morally very low and unfair
means to achieve his objectives.   Look !  by killing Baali, the King
of monkeys in a clandestine manner, even Lord Ram's name and
fame was tarnished.

( In this Subhashita the incident of killing of Baali by Lord Ram has
been used as a simile, to emphasize the fact that one should not adopt
unfair means to achieve their objectives.  Lord Ram killed Baali by
sneaking behind a tree. Although when Baali criticised Shri Ram for
doing it Shri Ram justified it by saying that it is not a sin to kill a person
who has a bad eye for one's brother's wife, sister, son and  women.
But still it remained as a blot in Lord Ram's otherwise bright character.)

and ultimately destiny takes away all the glory and prosperity.)
