all these six situations any person will feel as if his body is
being burnt without any fire.

i.e.    If a learned person does not regularly pursue his discipline
of learning,  it becomes like a poison for him ( he loses control
over it) and for a person suffering from indigestion a sumptuous
meal is like a poison for him.  For a poor person social and family
functions are like poison  (due to financial constraints), and for
an aged person, a young woman is like a poison (due to inability
to satisfy her needs).

attributes of the life of a living being are bestowed on him
while it grows in the womb.

according to its 'Karmas" has been explained in the above
Subhashita in a nut-shell. )

Araajakam = anarchic.

i.e.         Just as  rivers without any water flow,  forests
without grass and greenery and a herd of cows without
a cowboy are not at all adorned, the same is the case of
a Nation with anarchy everywhere.

Wednesday 6 June 2018

Today's Subhashita.

agriculture.    Goraksha =  cowherd.       Jeevinah =
livelihood  by

i.e.     In an anarchic  Country  rich persons and  those

their doors  open while asleep (due to the fear of theft).

Tuesday 5 June 2018

Today's Subhashita.

Naaraajake  janapade  udyaanaani  samaagataa .

children.   Hema =gold.   Bhooshitaah =adorned by.

i.e.       In an anarchic Country young children adorned with
gold ornaments do not assemble in the public parks for playing
and entertainment.

(Although the reason for the children not visiting the parks has
not been given, the words 'adorned with gold ornaments'  gives
the hint of lawlessness in such parks, as is now a days seen in
almost every public place as the menace of  gold chains  and
mobile phone snatchers, whose target is mainly women and
children. This is indicative of breakdown of law and order. )

Monday 4 June 2018

Today's Subhashita.

करते हैं )||

Abhivarshati parjanyo  maheem  divyena vaainaa,

Na - not.    Arajake = anarchic.   Janapade = country.

Divyena = divine, heavenly.   Vaarinaa = with water.

i.e.      In an anarchic Country ,the clouds  laced with
lightening and making loud rumbling sound, do not
bestow the Earth  the divine and life giving rain.

(The above Subhashita has been taken from a text book
of Sanskrit from a chapter titled  'Disastrous consequences
of anarchy" ,   If we look at the sudden climatic change,
as a result  of which we are having very heavy rain, dust
storms,and floods throughout the Country,which has caused
heavy loss of life, the truth behind this Subhashita is apparent.
Our Shaastras assign the cause of this quirk of weather to the
absence or lack of governance by the King. I will be posting
the remaining shlokas  daily during the next few days.)

given prominent position in the administration),   food grains are
stocked and preserved properly, and there is no quarrelling among
married couples,  Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity,
on her own arrives to reside there.

(In this Subhashita three main  requisites for the  prosperity of  a
country have been given , namely proper and strict governance.
proper maintenance of stocks of food-grains, and cordial relations
among members of   the society.  Alas !  presently we are lacking
in all these areas. )
