To day's Subhashit

 य: प्रीणयेत्सु चरितै: पितरं  स पुत्र:
यद्भर्तुरेव हितुमिच्छति तत्क्लत्रम
तन्मित्र मापदी सुखे च समक्रियम य:
देतत्रयं जगति  पुन्यकृतो  लभंते  .


Yahh prenayeatsu charitaih pitaram sa putrahh
yadbharturev hitmichhuti tatkalatram
tanmitra maapadi sukhey ch samakriyam yah
detatrayam jagati punya kruto labhante.   

i.e.  A son who offers 'Tarpan' to his ancestors, a woman who always thinks about the welfare and comforts of her husband, a friend who is available to assist during both good and bad times, these three types of persons one gets only if he has earned  'Punya' in his previous birth.

Tarpan = It is a ritual performed by person to remember and pay obeisance to his ancestors every year during a particular fortnight called "Pitrupaksh" as also on the death anniversary of  his departed parents and grand parents.

Punya = Is a concept of Hindu Religion whereby a person gets and accumulates reward for his good deeds done to others through the benevolence of God Almighty, which normally fructify in his subsequent re-birth cycle.
