To day's Subhashit.

Gamyatey  yadi  Mrigendra mandiram prapyate kari kapol mauktikam
Jambukaalaya gatey cha prapyate baccha puccha khar charma khandanam.

i.e.  If one visits the den of a Lion he will find the pearl of an Elephant's head, but if he visits the lair of a Jackal he will find there the tail of a calf , the skin and bones of an Ass .

Mrigendra =  King of beasts i.e.a Lion.      Kari =  Elephant .     Mauktik = Pearl
Jambuk = A jackal.       Khar = a donkey      Charma = skin    khandanam = bones

(In Hindu mythology it is believed that inside the skull of an Elephant a pearl like substance is found which is termed as 'Gaja Mauktik' i.e. a pearl found inside an Elephant's skull.  The underlying idea behind this Shloka is that if a person visits the house of an illustrious person he will find many valuable things, but if he visits the house of an ordinary person he will find things which are very insignificant , ordinary or even useless.)
