To day's Subhashit.

शुन्नः पुच्छमिव व्यर्थं जीवितं विद्यया बिना  |
न गुह्यगोपने शक्तं न च दंश निवारणे

Shunnh pucchamiva vyarthm jeevitm vidyayaa binaa.
Na guhyagopane shaktm na dmsha nivaarane.

Shunnh = a dog      Pucchamiva = Puccha + iva,      Puccha = tail.      Iva = like.
Vyarthm = futile, useless.    Jeevitam = living,     Vidyayaa = knowledge, learning.     Bina = without.
 Guhya = hidden (here it means genital organs which are to be hidden).    Gopane = covering,concealing.
Shaktm = able.      Cha = also       Dansh = biting, sting. (here it means flying insects which sting)
Nivaarane = warding off.

i.e.   Living a life without being a learned person is like being the tail of  a dog, which is neither capable to cover its genitals nor able to ward off stinging flies.

(Through this Subhashit the author emphasises in a jovial manner the importance of getting proper education, by citing the example of the tail of a dog, which is too short to ward off the flies and is also useless in covering its genitals unlike other animals having a long tail, which they effectively use to ward off flies.)
