To day's Subhashit.

     Here  is another Subhashit on yesterday's theme of 'Gangavataran', with a slight change in its contents :-

गङ्गां च धारयति मूर्ध्नि सदा कपाली                    Gamgaam cha dhaarayati moordhni sadaa kapaalee.
सा तस्य चुम्बति मुखं न कदाचिदेव    |                  Saa tasya chumbati mukham na kadaachideva.
रत्नाकरं प्रति चुचुम्ब सहस्रवक्रै-                            Ratnaakaram prati chuchumb sahasravakrai -
गङ्गादयो युवतयः सधनानुकूला :     ||                  Gamgaadayo yuvatayhsadhanaanukoolaah.

Dhaarayati = carrys, holds.       Moordhni = head.     Sadaa = always.       Kapaalee = Lord Shiva.
Sa = she (reference to Ganga)       Tasya = his (reference to Lord Shiva)      Chumbati = kisses.
Mukham = mouth.      Kadaachideva = Kadaachit + eva.      Kadaachit =  sometimes.     eva = like
Ratnaakaram = Ocean, storehouse of 'Ratnas'.       Prati = towards.     Chuchumba = kiss.
Sahasravakraih = Sahasra + vakrai.      Sahasra = One thousand.       Vakraih = mouths.
Gangaadayo = Ganges and other rivers.       Yuvatayh = young ladies.      Sadhanaanukoolaah =
Sa + dhan +anukoolah.      Sa = with, having.    dhan = wealth.    Anukool =favourable, obliging.

i.e.    Although Lord Shiva always holds the River Ganges on his forehead,  she hardly ever kisses the mouth of Lord Shiva.  But when she meets the Ocean, she kisses it with such intensity as if  she has a thousand mouths (reference to waves in the Ocean). It is truly said that Ganges and other rivers as also young ladies are more  favourable and obliging towards wealthy persons.
