Today's Subhashita.

क्षणमात्रं ग्रहाSSवेशो  याममात्रं सुरामदः |
लक्ष्मीमदस्तु  मूर्खाणामादेहमनुवर्तते     ||

Kshnamaatram grahaavesho yaamamaatram suraamadah
Lakshmimadastu moorkhaanaamaadehamanuvartate..

Kshanamaatram = Kshana+maatram     Kshana = moment.     Maatra = merely.
only for a moment, momentarily.    Grahaavesho = Graha+ aavesho.    Graha = perceiving, recognising.     Aavesho = frenzy, uncontrolled behaviour,indistinctness of ideas.
Yaamamaatram =  Yaam +maatram.     Yaama = 1/8th period of a day according to the Indian system of measuring time, approximately 3 hours according to the modern system.
Suraamadah = Suraa +madaah.      Suraa = liquor.     Madah = intoxication, insolence, pride
Lakshmimadastu = Lakshmi +madastu.  Lakshmi = wealth, fortune, prosperity. Madastu = pride.     Moorkhaanaamadehamanuvartate = moorkhaanaam+adeha=anuvartate.    Moorkhaanaam=foolish or stupid persons.   Adeha = in the mind  of a person without any apparent signs outside.               Anuvartate = persists, runs along.

i.e.        Frenzy created in mind due to some wrong perception exists only momentarily, and the uncontrolled behaviour due to intoxication by consuming liquor lasts for approximately 3 hours (Yaamamaatra), but in foolish and stupid persons, the pride of being rich runs deep in their mind continuously without any apparent outwardly signs.

(In this Subhashita the author has treated wealth also as an intoxicant and compared the human  behaviour under the influence of various intoxicants  and has emphasised that whereas the effect of other intoxicants on human behaviour is temporary, wealth, particularly among foolish persons, acts as an intoxicant continuously and shapes their behaviour accordingly.)
