Today's Subhashita.

अप्रमत्तश्च यो राजा सर्वज्ञो विजितेन्द्रियः |
कृतज्ञो   धर्मशीलश्च  स राजा तिष्ठते चिरं  ||

अर्थ =  एक राजा (या देश का शासक ) जो विचारशील , सर्वज्ञ, जितेन्द्रिय, धर्मशील तथा जनता के प्रति कृतज्ञ होता है वह् चिरकाल तक सुखपूर्वक शासन करने में सक्षम होता है |

Apramattashcha yo Raaja sarvagyo vijitendriyah.
krutagyo dharmasheelashcha sa Raaja tishthate chiram.

Apramatta = vigilant,  considerate.    Yo = who.   Raaja = king     Sarvagyo =knowing every thing, omniscient.          Vijitendriyah = vijit + indriah.     Vijit = conquered.    Indriah= sensory organs.
Vijitendriah = a person who has control over his sensory organs and subdued his passion.      
Krutagya = thankful, grateful.     Dharmasheelashcha = Dharmasheel +cha.    Dharmasheel = pious and virtuous.        Sa = that.      Tishthate = stays in office, rules.     Chiram = for a long time.

i.e.   A king (or a ruler of a Country), who is very considerate , vigilant, omniscient, has control over his sensory organs and  subdued his passion, is grateful towards his subjects , pious and religious,successfully rules over his kingdom (country) for a long period.

(Through this Subhashita the author has outlined all the qualities, which a  ruler must have to rule over his country successfully.)
