ऋणं कृतं त्वदत्तं चेद्वाधतेSत्र परत्र च |
न नष्येद्दुष्कृतं तद्वद्भुक्तिं वा निष्कृतिं विना || -महासुभषितसंग्रह
भावार्थ - ऋण (कर्ज) ले कर और फिर उसका भुगतान न करने
वाले व्यक्ति को ऋणदाता इधर उधर उसका रास्ता रोक कर उसे
भुगतान करने के लिये बाध्य करता है | और इस ऋण लेने के बुरे
कृत्य का दुष्प्रभाव तब तक समाप्त नहीं होता है जब् तक कि या
तो ऋण का भविष्य में भुगतान सुनिश्चित करने के लिये कोई
प्रतिभूति प्रस्तुत की जाय या ऋण का पूरा भुगतान कर दिया जाय |
Rinam krutam tvadattam chedvaadhatetra pratra cha.
Na nashyeddushkrutam tadvadbhuktim vaa nishkrutim vina.
Rinam = a debt, loan. Krutam = by incurring, doing.
Tvadattam = tu + adattam. Tu = but, and. Adattam = not
repaid. Chedbaadhatetra = chet + baadhate + atra.
Chet = if, then. Baadhate =obstructs, harasses. Atra= here.
paratra = elsewhere. Cha = and. Nashyeddushkrutam =
nashyet + dushkrutam. Nashyet = destroyed. Dushkrutam =
misdeed, evil action. Tadvadbhukttim = tadvat + bhuktim.
Tadvat = likewise, thus. Bhuktim = usufruct (providing
some security for the loan taken) Vaa = or. Nishkrutim =
acquittance (discharge from a debt through repayment )
Vina = except,without.
i.e. If a person takes a loan from some body and does not
repay it, the lender confronts him here and there by obstructing
him. And this torture does not end until such time either some
security is provided to the lender or the loan is repaid in full.
