आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

नास्ति  मेघसमं  तोयं  नास्ति चात्मसमं  बलम्  |

नास्ति चक्षुः समं तेजो नास्ति धान्य समं प्रियम् || 

भावार्थ -   एक मेघ (बादल) के समान शुद्ध जल प्रदान  करने वाला  

अन्य और कोई स्रोत नहीं है और न ही अपने आत्मबल (अपनी स्वयं 

की शक्ति) के समान विश्वसनीय अन्य कोई बल होता है |   नेत्रों के 

समान प्रकाश का अनुभव कराने वाली अन्य कोई वस्तु नहीं है तथा 

धान्य (विभिन्न प्रकार के अनाज जो भोजन के रूप में प्रयुक्त होते हैं )

के समान प्रिय (जीवित रहने के लिये ) अन्य कोई वस्तु नहीं है | 

Naasti meghasamam toyam naast chaatmasamam balam.

Naasti chakshuh samam tejo naasti dhanya samam priyam.

Naasti = non existent.     Megha = rain bearing cloud.  

Samam = equal to, similar to.              Toyam = water. 

chaatmasamam = cha + aatmasamam.     Cha = and.

Atmasamam = equal to one's own.    Balam = power,strength.

Chakshuh = eye.  Tejo = sharpness. brightness.     Dhaanya =

food grains.  Priyam =  pleasant.

 i.e.    There is no other means equal to rain bearing clouds 

for providing pure potable water, and no reliable means of

self protection equal to one's own strength.  There is no other

means of  feeling brightness equal to one's own eyes, and no 

other pleasant means of subsistence (remaining alive) equal 

to food grains.
