कन्या निष्काषिता श्रेष्ठा वधू श्रेष्ठा प्रवेशिता |
अन्नं संकलितं श्रेष्ठं धर्मः श्रेष्ठो दिने दिने || - महासुभषित सं ग्रह(८५९२)
भावार्थ - अपनी कन्या का विवाह एक श्रेष्ठ कुल में करना चाहिये तथा
वधू को भी किसी श्रेष्ठ कुल से ही लाना चाहिये | वही भोजन श्रेष्ठ होता है
जो विभिन्न प्रकार के सुस्वादु और पुष्टिकर व्यञ्जनों से चुन कर किया
जाता है | तथा धार्मिक आचरण वही श्रेष्ठ होता है जो प्रतिदिन नियमित रूप
से किया जाता है |

Kanyaa nishkaashitaa shreshtaa vadhoo shreshthaa praveshitaa.
Annam smkalitam shreshtham dharmh shreshto diney diney.
Kanya = daughter. Nishkaashitaa = expelled ( here the reference is
to marrying her in another family. Shreshthaa = most distinguished.
(here again the reference to a distinguished family where the daughter
is to be married). Vadhooh = a bride. Pravishitaa = brought in.
Annam = food, cereals. Smkalitam = blended, having many varieties.
Dharmah=observance of religious austerity. Diney diney=day by day.
i.e. One must marry his daughter in an illustrious family and likewise
bring his bride also from an illustrious family. Food selected from a
variety of tasty and nourishing eatables is the best food and only that
form of religious austerity is the best which is practiced daily.
