To day's Subhashita.

दरिद्रता धीरतया विराजते कुरुपता शीतलया विराजते
कुभोजनं चौष्णतया विराजते कुवस्त्रता शुभ्रतया विराजते.

Daridrataa dheeratayaa viraajate kurupataa sheetalayaa viraasjate.
Kubhojanam choshnatayaa viraajate kuvastrastaa shrubhratayaa viraajate.

i.e.   Inspite of being poor a person is still  honored if he is learned, an ugly looking person is still adorned by the society if he is cool headed and sober. Unhealthy food (junk food) is liked if it is spicy and hot and ill-fitting and odd looking clothes are still appreciated if they are brightly colored .

(The underlying idea is that any shortcoming can be made good if a person possesses other qualities and virtues to counter-balance the shortcoming(s) in him.)

Daridrataa = being poor,          Dheerataya =  being learned .        Kuroopataa = ugliness
Sheetalaya = beinng cool headed and sober.  Kubhojanam = food that is  not nourishing, junk food.
Ooshna = Very hot and spicy       Ku-vastra =ill fitting and odd looking clothes
Shubhra = bright          Viraajate =  adorned, appreciated, honored, liked.
