To day's Subhashit.

अन्न दानं परं दानं विद्यादानं अतः परम्
अन्नेन क्षणिका तृप्तिः यावज्जीवंच विद्यया

Anna daanam param daanam vidyaadaanam atah param
annean kshanikaa truptih yaajeevamcha vidyayaa.

i.e.   Providing food to poor and needy persons is the best charitable deed, but making people learned by teaching them is the supreme form of charity, because food gives momentary satisfaction whereas knowledge acquired gives satisfaction throughout the life of the person concerned.

Anna = food.         Daan = help rendered to poor and needy persons in cash or kind.
Param = best.        Vidyaa daan = making a person literate and knowledgeable
Atah param =    better than the best, supreme.       Kshanikaa =  momentary.
(Kshana is the lowest measure of time in Sanskrit language like a 'second' in English.)
Trupti = satisfaction.          Yaawat = upto         Jeevam = alive
Yaawajjvam = upto the time a person is alive.
