युध्यते पक्षिपशव: पठन्ति शुकसारिकाः
दातुं शक्नोत्री यो वित्तं स शूरः स च पण्डितः
Yudhyate pakshipashwah pathantib shukasaarikaah.
Daatum shaknoti yo vittm sa shoorh sa cha pandith.
Yudhyate = fight, Pakshi = birds. Pashwah = animals, beasts. Pathanti = reciting. studying.
Shuka = parrot. Saarikiaa = a singing bird called mainaa.(मैना ). Daatum = give, share
Shaknoti = can. Yo = who. Vittam = wealth, money. Sa = he. Shoorah = warrior, brave person.
cha = and Pandit = a learned person, scholar.
i.e. Even birds and animals fight with each other and parrots and Mainnas recite whatever they are taught,
but only a person who can share his wealth and knowledge with others is considered a brave and learned person.
(Through this Subhashit the author emphasises the virtues of a person who is a philanthropist. Simply possessing wealth and being learned is not sufficient. Sharing it with fellow citizens for the benefit of society as a whole makes a person really brave and learned )
