To day's Subhashit.

कविरहिताः  कविलापा जायन्ते कंठशोषणायैव   |
संमुखगतः कविश्चेद्भवति कुलपितापि कविकुलपितेव ||

Kavirahitaah kavilaapaa jaayante kanthshoshanaayeva.
Sammukhagatah kavishchedbhavati kulapitaapi kavikulapiteva.

Kavirahitaa = Kavi +rahitaa     Kavi = poet.(poetic contents).     Rahitaa = without.   Kavirahitaa = without any poetic content.       Kavirahitaa =  'Ka' + virahitaa.        Ka' = an alphabet of Sanskrit language.
Virahitaa = deprived of , separated from..      Ka-virahitaa = without the word 'Ka"
Kavilaapa = kavi +aalap.    Aalaap + a poet's recitation of poetry.   Vilaap = weeping, bemoaning.  (if the alphabet 'ka' is removed from the word 'kavilaap' it becomes 'vilaap' having a different meaning)
Jaayante = becomes.   Kanthshoshanaayev = Kantrhshoshan + Iva.    Kanthshoshan = drying up of throat, meaningless
talking.     Iva = like.      Sammukhagatah =  In front of.    Kavishchedbhavati = Kavishcha +id + Bhavati.    Kavishch = poets.     Ida = only.      Bhavati = becomes, happens.    Kulapitaapi + Ku + lapitaa +api
Ku = by prefixing this word before a word, it degrades the meaning of the word, just like the prefix 'un' in English,    Lapitaa = spoken words..   Ku-lapitaa = worthless and meaningless talking. .   Api = even.   Kavikulapiteva = Kavi +  kulapitaa +Iva.     Kulpitaa = senior and competent poets..   Iva =  like.

i.e.           Recitation of a poetry without any poetic content  is just like meaningless bemoaning . When a poet recites such a poetry  before an assembly of  senior and competent poets, it is despicable like uttering foul language before them (and hurts them).

(In this Subhashit the author has played with  the alphabet 'Ka' , which, when removed from
a word alters its meaning .Similarly the prefix 'ku' added before a word also alters its meaning.
My interpretation of the Shloka, particularly of the last two words - Kulapitaapi' and 'Kavikulapiteva' might be wrong. So, if any other interpretation is available, that may kindly be pointed out.)
