Poorvajanmajanitm = Poorva +Janma+Janitm. Poorva = earlier, previous. Janma = birth.
Janitam = occuring, Puraavidh = those who know events of former times. Karma = deeds, work.
Daivamiti = Daivam + iti. Daivam = destiny fate. Iti = this, that. Samprachakshate = relate,
attribute, illuminate. Uddyamena = by maaking efforts. Tadupaarjitam = tad + puaarjitam '
Tad = that. Upaarjitaam = earned, acquired. Chiraaddaivamudyamvasham = Chiraad + daiva +
Uddyam + vasham . Chiraad = after a long time. Uddyam = efforts, entrepreneurship.
Vasham = subject to, under control. Tat = that. Katham = reporting, telling.
i.e. Scholars who belive in the concept of rebirth and 'Karma', attribute the wealth a person has during his lifetime, to the good deeds done by him in his previous birth, but if a person acquires wealth after a long time through his entrepreneurship and hard work (Udyam), then they do not say that it is due to the bebevolence of Destiny.
(I feel that the above translation of the Subhashit under the caption "Udyog Prasamshaa" done by me does not incorporate fully the philosophy behind the Shloka. I will feel obliged if a more detailed and better interprettion of the Subbhashit is done by the erudite members of our Group.)
