O Yudhishthira ! provider of many rewards and amenities to your subjects, you should give up all sorts of
addictions, but it does not mean that you should altogether give up courage and firmness needed to fight with your enemies (because these qualities are necessary to conquer the enemies).

(Scriptures have listed in all 18 types of addictions, out of which 10 are related to sex and  8 are related to anger.   The first 10 are hunting, gambling, sleeping during day time, criticizing others, womanising, pride, indulgence in playing musical instruments, dance, music and liquor.  The remaining 8 related to anger are, back biting, courage, mischief, envy, intolerance, using harsh and foul language, mistakes while speaking by not using correct words, and giving very harsh punishment..  The main cause of all the miseries faced by the Pandavas was addiction of Yudhishthara for gambling. He lost his empire and even his wife and 4 brothers  in a bet while gambling with Kauravas.)
