Today's Subhashita. (Discourse between Bheeshma and Yudhishthira about 'Rajdharma' - continued).

Yatnena sadaa putra prayatethaa yudhishthira.
Na hyutthaanamrute daivam raagyaamartham prasaadayet.

Utthaanena = by making  efforts.    Sadaa = always.    Putra = son.   Prayatethaa = painstakingly.
Na = not.   Hyutthaanamrute = hi + utthaanam+rute.      Hi = because.  Utthaanam = progress
Rute = without.     Daivam = destiny, fate.     Raagyaamartham = Raagyaam +artham.
Raagyaam = King's.    Artham = purpose.     Prasaadayet = to  render,  serve.

While preaching the 'Rajdharma' to Yudhishthar, Bheeshma further say to him that -

" O son !  you should painstakingly make sincere efforts for the  progress  of your kingdom, because without  making such efforts, mere total reliance on destiny can not serve the purpose of Kings.
