Today's Subhashita. (Discourse between Bheeshma and Yudhishthara about 'Rajdharma' -(continued)

Yathaa he rashmiyoshvasya dviradasyaankusho yathaa .
Narendradharmo lokasya tathaa pragrahanam smrutam.

Yathaa = for instance.      Hi = surely.       Rasshmiyoshvasya = Rashmiyo +ashwasya.
Rashmiyo= reins (thin leather strips attached to a horse's bridle).   Ashwasya = a horse's.
Dwiradasyaankusho = Dviradasya +ankusho.        Dviradasya = an elephant's.
Ankusha = a hand held hook with a sharp end, used by the trainer (Mahaut) of an elephant
to control it.      Narendradharmo = Narendra + dharmo.    Narendra = a King, a Raajaa.
Dharma= duty and propriety of conduct,  religion.     Lokasya = for this world.
Tathaa = thus, so.     Pragrahanam = means of controlling.     Smrutam = termed as.

i.e.      Just as for taming and controlling horses reins attached to a bridle are required,and for controlling  elephants an 'ankush' is required, similarly to control the world and maintain propriety of conduct by its inhabitants, observance of 'Rajdharma'  is considered essential for the King, because only it is considered to be capable of doing so.
