लोभ मूलानि पापानि संकटानि तथैव च |
लोभात्प्रवर्तते वैरं अतिलोभात्विनश्यति ||
अर्थ - लोभ सभी पापों का तथा विभिन्न संकटों मूल कारण है | लोभ से वैर उत्पन्न होता है और अत्यन्त लोभ से व्यक्तियों का विनाश भी हो जाता है |
Lobh = greed. Moolaani = root (cause). Paapaani = sins, crimes Samkataani = dangers, crisis-es.
Tathaiva = similarly, likewise. Cha = also. Lobhaatpravartate = Lobhaat +pravartate.
Lobhaat = because of greed. Pravartate = originates, results in. Vairam = enmity, revenge.
Atilobhaatvinashyati = Ati + lobhaat + vinishyati. Ati = excessive. Vinashyati = perishes, gets destroyed.
i.e. Greed is the root cause of all crimes and sins, as also of dangers of various kinds. Greed in a person also results in his enmity with others and excessive greed results in total destruction of such a person.
