Today's Subhashita.

Utpala, .Padma and kumud are names of different varieties of lotus flower having different hue, shape and smell.   Utpalasya cha,padmasya  = of these different varieties of Lotus..      Matsyaya=  of a fish.
Kumudasya =  of another variety of  lotus flower which blossoms during the night..
Ekjaatiprasootaanaam = eka + jaati +prasootoonaam.      Ekja = one, identical.    Jaati = lineage, breed.
Prasootaanaam = born.      Roopam = appearance, form.     Gandha = smell.    Prathak = separate.

i.e.      Although  'Utpal' , 'Padma' and "Kumud'  (different varieties of lotus flower) as also Fish of different types, all of them have the same lineage  (of being born in water) their appearance, hue and smell are totally different.

(Through this Subhashita the author has emphasised the glory of the Nature by citing the example of  different varieties of lotus flowers and fish grown in water, that various species of  living beings,animals, vegetation etc.,even if they grow in an environment common to all of them, their appearance, colour, size smell etc is always different..)
