Ashanam me vasanam me jaayaa me bandhvarge me.
Iti meme kurvaanam kaalavruko hanti purushaajam.
Ashan = eating, food. Me = the meying sound created by a goat. Vasanam = attire, dwelling.
Jaaya = wife . Bandhuvarge = relatives. Iti =thus. Memekurvaanam = Meme + kurvaanam.
Kurvaanam = making, doing. Kaalabruko= Kaala + bruko. Kaala = time,destiny, Bruko = wolf.
Hanti = destroys. Purushaajam = purusha +ajam. Purusha = male. Ajam = goat.
i.e. While eating food, dwelling, in the company of its consort and relatives, a he-goat always creates the sound of 'me me' and ultimately meets its death at the hands of destiny as a wolf.
(The author has played with the word 'Me' in this Subbhashita and emphasises that arrogance in the attitude of a he-goat leads to his untimely death either as a sacrificial animal or for its meat, because it always announces himself as Me Me. Untimely death has been compared to a wolf, who, attracted by his meying
sound which attracts a wolf and ultimately results in its death by the wolf. )
