Today's Subhashita.

Badhirati karnavivaram vaacha mookayati nayanamandhayati.
Vikrutayati gatruyashti sampadrogoyamadbhuto Raajan.

Badhirayati = becomes deaf.   Karnavivaram = auditory passage of ears.    Vaacham = speech.
Mookayati = become dumb.   Nayanamandhayati = nayanam + andhayati.    Nayanam = eyes.
Andhayati =  make blind.    Vikrutayati = disfigured.    Gaatruyashti = beautiful shape of the body.
Sampadrogoyamadbhuto = sampat+ rogo +ayam +adbhuto.     Sampat = wealth.   Rogo = disease.
ayam = this.    Adbhuto =surprising, extraordinary..

i.e.     O king !  How extraordinary is the obsession to acquire more and more wealth in some persons is like a disease.  Persons afflicted with this obsession become deaf, dumb , blind and even their body also gets deformed.

( Through the use of a hyperbole the author of this Subhashita  has emphasised the fact that due to the obsession of acquiring more and more wealth in some persons, the faculties of hearing,speaking and seeing as also their personality is affected and they are not able to take correct decisions.)
