Patanti khadgadhaaraastu vishanti makaraalayam.
Kim na kurvanti subhage kashtamarthaarthito janaah.
Patanti = exposing one's self before .. Khadgadhaaraastu = the blade of a sword.
Vishanti =enter into. Makaraalayam = sea, ocean. Kim = what. Na = not.
Kurvanti = do. Subhage = addressing a beautiful and fortunate woman.
Kashtamarthaarthito = kashtam +artha + arthito. Kashtam = difficulties, trouble.
Artha = wealth, money. Arthito = desiring. Janaah = persons.
i.e. O beautiful and fortunate lady ! what not can persons very keen to acquire wealth do for that purpose ? They do not hesitate even to expose themselves before the blade of a sword or enter into the Ocean,
( The Subhashita emphasizes the fact that persons who are very keen to acquire wealth can go to any extent to achieve their objective and even do not hesitate to risk their life. )
