असज्जनः सज्जनसङ्गिसङ्गात्करोति दुःसाध्यमपि साध्यं |
पुष्पाश्रयाच्छंभुशिरोSधिरूढा पिपीलिका चुम्बति चन्द्रबिम्बं ||

अर्थ - साधारण या दुष्ट व्यक्ति भी सज्जन व्यक्तियों के साथ प्रयत्न पूर्वक रह कर
अत्यन्त कठिन या असंभव कार्य को भी वैसे ही सम्पन्न कर लेते हैं जैसे कि एक छोटी
सी चींटी भी एक पुष्प का आश्रय लेकर भगवान् शिव (की मूर्ति) के मस्तक पर स्थित
चन्द्रबिम्ब को चूमने में समर्थ हो जाती है |
(गोस्वामी तुलसीदास जी ने भी रामचरितमानस मे इसी आशय का यह् पद लिखा है :-
"अति अपार जे सरित सर जों नृप सेतु कराहिं |
चढि पिपीलिकउ परम लघु बिनु श्रम पारहिं जाहिं ||" - बालकाण्ड (13)
Asajjanah sajjanasangaisangaatkaroti duhsaadhyamapi saadhyam.
Pushpaa shryaacchambhushirodhiroodhaab pipeelikaa chumbati chandra bimbam.
Asajjanah = a wicked or bad person. Sajjan = a vertuous person. Sangisangaat+
karoti. Sangi = clinging . Sangaat = by associating with. Karoti = is able to do.
Duhsaadhyamapi = duhsaadhyam + api. Duhsaadhya = difficult to be achieved.
Api = even. Saadhyam = feasible, achievable. Pushpt+aashrayaat +shambhu+
shiro+adhiroodhaa. Pushpa = a flower. Aashrayaat = by the assistance of,
shelter. Shambhu = God Shiva. Shiro = forehead. Adhiroodhaa =ascended.
Pipeelikaa = an ant. Chumbati = kisses. Chandrabimbam = Moon's disk.
i.e. Even ordinary or wicked persons are able to accomplish difficult or impossible
tasks if they assiduously associate themselves with virtuous persons e.g. an ordinary
ant is able to kiss the crescent Moon on the forehead of (an idol of) Lord Shiva.
(In this Subhashita the author has used a narrative from Hindu Mythology as a Simile
in support of the underlying idea of the Subhashita. In the couplet of Gosvami Tulsi
Das quoted above it is said that if a king provides for the benefit of the citizens bridges
over deep and wide rivers or lakes even ordinary ants can cross them with ease.)
