Today's Subhashita.

अस्थिरं जीवितं  लोके यौवनं  धनमस्थिरं |
अस्थिरं पुत्रदारापि धर्मः कीर्तिर्द्व्यं स्थिरं ||  - महासुभषितसंग्रह (३८८६)

अर्थ -     इस संसार में मनुष्य का जीवन , यौवन और धन संपत्ति ये सभी
अस्थायी (नश्वर ) होते हैं | इसी प्रकार स्त्री पुत्रादि का सम्बन्ध भी अस्थायी
ही होता है |  परन्तु धार्मिक  आचरण तथा उसके कारण अर्जित कीर्ति (समाज
में मान सम्मान और  यश ) दोनों ही चिर स्थायी होते हैं |

Asthiram jeevitam loke yauvanam dhanamasthiram.
Asthiram putradaaraapi dharmh keertirdvyah sthiram.

Asthiram = uncertain, unstable.    Jeevitam = life.     Loke = in this
World.    Yauvanam = youth.    Dhanamasthiram = dhanam +asthiram.
Dhanam = wealth.     Putradaaraapi = putra+daaraa+api.   Putra =son.
Daaraa = wife.    Api = even.    Dharmah = observance of  religious
austerity      Keertih = fame, reputation.     Dvyam = two.things.  
Sthiram = steady,stable,  .

i.e.       In this World , the life span of people, their  youth and wealth,
all these are unstable as also association with their wife and sons etc.
But adherence to religious austerity and the resultant name and fame
acquired thereby remains steady and stable.
