Today's Subhashita.

धनानि  जीवितं चैव  परार्थे  प्राज्ञ  उत्सृजेत्  |

तन्निमित्तो वरं त्यागो विनाशे नियते सति  || -सुभषितरत्नाकर 

अर्थ -      एक  बुद्धिमान और धनवान  व्यक्ति को संकट ग्रस्त 

लोगों की प्राणरक्षा के हेतु अपने धन का सदुपयोग अवश्य करना 

चाहिये |  इस हेतु धन का त्याग  करना  ही  श्रेयस्कर है क्योंकि 

अन्ततः धन का नाश होना तो निश्चित है  |

Dhanaani jeevitam chaiva paraarthe praagya utsrujet.

Tannimitto varm tyaago vnashe niyate sati.

Dhanaani =  wealth.    Jeevitam =  life.     Chaiva = cha +aiva.

Cha = and.    Eva = already, really.    Paraarthe = for the benefit

or interest of others.   Praagya =  wise men.   Utsrujet = hand out

give away.    Tannimitto =  tat +nimitto.    Tat = that.    Nimitto =

reason,  sake.  Varam =  better, rather than.  Tyaago = sacrifice,

donate.    Vinaashe - destruction   Niyate = destined.  Sati = end.

i.e.      A wise and wealthy person should always give away his 

wealth for saving the lives of needy persons.  It is preferable to

spend it for this noble cause, because ultimately all wealth is

destined to be destroyed.
