Doorasthopi na doorastho yo yasya mnasi sthitah.
Yo yasya hrudaye naasti sameepasthopi dooratah.
Doorasthopi = doorastho + api. Doorastho = staying far away.
Api = even. Na = not. Yo = whosoever. Yasya = one's own
Manasi = mind. Sthitah = present, exists, Hrudaye = heart.
Naasti = non- existent. Sameepasthopi = Sameepastho + api.
Sameepastho = nearby. Dooratah = far away.
i.e. If some body occupies one's mind , although he may be far
away, the feeling is as if he is nearby, whereas in the case of a person
who does not have a place in one's heart, the feeling is that he is far
away even if he may be very nearby.
(The way the likes and dislikes of a person affect his mentality ,
has been dealt with beautifully in this Subhashita .)
