स अर्थो यो हस्ते तत् मित्रं यत् निरन्तरं व्यसने |
तत् रूपं यत् गुणाः तत् विज्ञानं यत् धर्मः || - हल सप्तशती
भावार्थ - वही सच्चा धन है जो अपने हाथ (अधिकार) में हो
और वही सच्चा मित्र है जो हमेशा विपत्ति में भी साथ दे |
रूपवान होना तभी शोभा देता है जब कि व्यक्ति गुणवान
भी हो, तथा वही विज्ञान सही है जो धर्म के सिद्धान्तों के
अनुसार (समाज के हित के लिये ) हो |
Sa artho yo haste tat mitram yat nirantaram vyasane.
Tat roopam yat gunaah tat vigyaanam yat dharmah.
Sa = that. Artho = wealth, money. Yo = which. Haste =
in hand. Tat = that. Mitram = friend. Yat = that.
Niraantaram = constant. Vyasane = adversity. Roopam +
beauty. Gunaah = virtues. Vigyaanam = science, knowledge.
Dharmah = righteousness, religious austerity.
i.e. Only that wealth is the real wealth which is in your own
hands (under control) and only that person is a real friend who
constantly supports you even in adversity. Beauty of a person
is real only when he is also virtuous and a science or a discipline
of learning is real only when it. propagates religious austerity and
righteousness.
