आज का सुभाषित / Tody's Subhashita.

ऋणं कृतं त्वदत्तं  चेद्बाधतेSत्र  परत्र  च  |
न  नश्येद्दुष्कृतं  तद्भुक्तिं वा निष्कृतिं विना || - महासुभषितसंग्रह

भावार्थ -    किसी साहूकार से ऋण  (उधार) ले कर पर उसे  वापस
न करने पर वह  इधर उधर रोक कर ऋण का भुगतान करने के
लिये बाध्य करता है |  यह कष्टकर परिस्थिति तब तक समाप्त
नहीं होती है जब् तक कि साहूकार को ऋण की राशि पर व्याज या
कोई अन्य वस्तु रेहन (प्रतिभूति) के रूप में  दी जाय या ऋण का
पूर्ण भुगतान कर दिया जाय  |

सुन्दर वर्णन किया गया है )

Rinam krutam tvadattam chedbaadhatetra paratra cha .
Na nashyeddushkrutam tadvadbhuktim vaa nishkrutim  vinaa.

Rinam = a loan, a debt. Kruitam = by obtaining.    Tvadattam =
tu +adattam,   Tu = but, and.   Adattam = not repaid.
Chedbaadhate = chet + baadhate.+atra.   Chet = if.    Baadhate =
disturbs, obstructs.    Atra =  here.   Paratra = elsewhere.   Cha =
and.    Na = not.    Nashyeddushkruam = nashyet + dushkrutam.
Nashyet =  ends, destroyed.   Dushkrutam = evil act, misdeed.
Tadbhuktim = tat + bhuktim.     Tat = that, its.   Bhuktim -=
usufruct (providing some security or payment of interest on
the loan.)   Nishkritim = repayment, requital.  Bina = without.

i,e,    If a loan is taken from a money lender and it is not repaid
timely, the money lender obstructs the borrower here and there
to compel him to repay the loan. This embarrassing situation
does not end until such time either some item is pawned  as security
and interest is paid, or the entire loan is repaid..
