आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita .

धर्मार्थी यत्र न स्यातां सुश्रूषा नापि तद्विधा  |
तत्र विद्या न  वक्तव्या शुभ  बीजमिवोषरे   || =  मनुस्मृति

भावार्थ -    किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति (शिष्य) को जिस में न तो धार्मिकता हो
.न धन हो, और न ही सेवा की  भावना हो , उसको कदापि  विद्या  का
दान नहीं करना चाहिये , क्योंकि उस को शिक्षित करना एक ऊसर खेत
में बीज बोने के समान निष्फल ही होता है |

Dharmaarthee yatra na syaataa sushrooshaa naapi tadvidhaa.
Tatra vidyaa na vaktavyaa shubh beej mivoshare.

Dharmaarthee = dharma + arthee.   Dharma = religion.  Arthee=
having wealth.   Yatra = where.  Na = not.    Syaat = perchance.  
Sushrooshaa = reverence and desire to serve.    Naapi = na + api.
Na = not.    Api = even.    Tadvidhaa= correspondingly.    Tatra =
there.  Vidyaa =knowledge.   Vaktavyaa = to be imparted or told.  
Shubha =  auspicious,   Beejamivoshare = beejam + iva+ ushare.  
Beejam = seeds.  iva = like.    ushare =  in a barren field with saline
soil where nothing can grow.

i.e.    One should not  impart knowledge to a person, who is neither
religious minded  nor rich , and also lacks  in reverence and desire
to serve his elders , because it is futile  like sowing good seeds on a
fallow land with saline soil.
