Vindh-mand ar-sumeru-bhoobhrutaam yatpatistuhina-parvatobhavat.
Eeshvara-svashura-rataa-prabhaavatas-tada-dhruvam jagati jrumbhate yashah.

Vindhya = name of a Mountain range of central India.  Mandara = heaven.
Sumeru = name of the mountain in heaven.  Bhoobhrutaam = king.
Yatpatistuhinah = yat + patih   =+ tuhinah.   Yat = that.    Patih = master.
Tuhinah = snow.   Parvatobhavat = parvato + abhavat Parvato =mountain.
Abhavat = happened. (indirect reference to the snow clad Himalaya Mountain)
Eeshvar = God ( reference to God Shiva )  Svashura = father-in-law.  Rataa =
bestowed with.   Prabhaavatah=  due to  the effect of . .  Tada =that.   Dhruvam
=certainly. Jagati = in this World.  Jrumbhate = opens one's mouth. Yashah = fame.

i.e.    There are many famous mountains in this  world such as the Vindhya, as also
Sumeru mountain in the Heaven.   But the most grand and famous one is  the snow
clad and mighty mountain Himalaya , only because it has been bestowed the honour
of being the father-in-law of Lord Shiva.     ( According to the Hindu mythology the
consort of Lord Shiva is the goddess Parvati, the daughter of Himalaya.)

(This Subhashita is also an 'Anyokti' (allegory in English) and has been classified as
a'Parvataanyokti' .  The idea behind it is that even ordinary persons also get name and
fame, if they are associated with great persons.)
