Adharmenaidhate taavattato bhadraani pashyati.
Tatah sapatnaanjayati samoolastu vinashyati.
Adharmenaidhate = adharmena + edhate. Adharmena=
due to immoral conduct. Edhate = prosper, go strong.
Taavatto = taavat+ tato. Taavat = meanwhile. Tato =
then. Bhadraani = prosperity Pashyati = experiences.
Tatah = then. Sapatnaanjayati = Sa+patnaan + jayati.
Sapatnaam = enemies. Jayati =conquers. Samoolastu=
samoolah +tu. Samoolah = entirely. Vinashyati =
get destroyed completely , annihilated.
i.e. Sometimes persons engaged in sinful deeds also
become prosperous and happy for a short period, and are
also able to conquer their enemies. But ultimately such
persons are annihilated.
(The history of mankind is full of examples to prove the
truth mentioned in the above Subhashita, Col.Gaddafi the
ruler of Libya, and Saddam Hussain of Iraq being the glaring
examples thereof. )
Dear Sir, Thank you for the detailed translation and for splitting of the Sanskrit words to explain the meaning. I just started to learn Sanskrit and also the Devanagari script, so this is very helpful. My mother tongue is Telugu (we believe it is 80% Sanskrit) and I am in my sixties. I will save your blog. Namaskaram. Subbarao
