रत्नैर्महाब्धे: तुतुषुर्न देवाः न भेजिरे भीमविषेन भीतिम् |
सुधां विना न प्रययुर्विरामं न निश्चितार्थाद्विरमन्ति धीराः ||

भावार्थ - समुद्र मन्थन द्वारा अनेक रत्नों को प्राप्त कर के भी देवगण
संतुष्ट नहीं हुए और न भयङ्कर कालकूट विष के प्रकट होने पर न तो
भयभीत हुए और न निरुत्साहित हुए , और तब तक उन्होंने अपने प्रयास
को विराम नहीं दिया जब तक कि उन्हें अमृत की प्राप्ति नहीं हो गयी |
सचमुच दृढ निश्चय वाले और वीर व्यक्ति अपने उद्देश्य और लक्ष्य
को कभी भी नहीं भूलते हैं |

Ratnaih = jewels. Mahaabdhe = mighty ocean. Tutushurna =
tutushuh+na Tutushuh = satisfied. Na = not. Devaah = Gods.
Bhejire =deterred, afraid of. Bhdema = awesome. Vishena= by
the poison. Bheetim = fear. Sudhaam = the nectar supposed
to bestow immortality to its user. Prayayuh = endeavors.
Viraamam = stoppage. Nishchit +arthaat+ viramanti. Nishchita=
decided. Arthaat = objective, goal. Viramanti = forget.
Dheeraah = brave and strong minded persons.
i.e. During the course of churning of the Ocean by the Gods, they
were not satisfied after getting many jewels, nor they were deterred
and afraid when the awesome poison 'Kaakkoot' came out of the
depth of the Ocean and they did not stop their endeavour, until they
got 'Amruta' the divine nectar.
It is true that brave and strong minded persons never forget
their objective and the goal.
