मनसि  वचसि  काये  पुण्यपीयूषपूर्णा-
स्त्रिभुवनमुपकारश्रेणिभिः प्रीणयन्तः   |
परगुण परमाणून्पर्वतीकृत्य नित्यं
निजहृदि  विकसन्तः सन्ति सन्तः कियन्तः ||
                                   - भर्तृहरि (नीतिशतक)
भावार्थ -    अपने मन से , वचनो से तथा  अमृत के समान  गुणकारी
विभिन्न प्रकार के परोपकार के कार्यों को करने के लिये  सदैव तत्पर
रहने वाले , तथा अन्य लोगों के अणुवत्  (क्षुद्र) गुणों को भी एक पर्वत
के समान विशाल समझने वाले (गुणग्राही ) तथा सहृदय संत पुरुष इस
संसार में  कितने हैं ?  (अर्थात दुर्लभ होते हैं )

 Manasi vachasi kaaye punya-peeyusha-poornaa-
stribhuvanmupakaarashrenibhih preenayantah.
Paraguna paramaanoonparvateekrutya nityam.
nija-hrudi vikasantah santi santah kiyantah.

Manasi = mentally.    Vachasi =by speaking.    Kaaye =body.
(actions) .    Punya= virtues.     Peeyusha = Amruta, the nectar
of Gods,which makes its user immortal.    Poorna = full of.
Tribhuvanam =the three worlds i.e. earth, sky and under-earth.
Upakaar = benevolent  deeds .  Shrenibhih = lines, types of.
Preenayantah = gratify, please.   Paraguna = virtues of others.
Paramaanoom =infinitely minute.    Parvateekrutya= treating
like a big mountain.   Nityam = always.   Nija = one's own.
Hrudi = heart, mind.  Vikasantah = develops.  Santi =there are.
Santah = noble and saintly persons.  Kiyantah = what, how many.

i.e.     How many virtuous and noble persons  are there in this World,
who are committed mentally, by their speech and actions, to always
remain engaged in various virtuous deeds that are beneficial and life
giving like the nectar of Gods(Amruta), appreciate  even the minute
virtues in other people like a very large like a mountain ?

(The answer is that there very few such devoted and noble  persons.)
