आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

कर्णाSमृतं  सूक्तिरसं विमुच्य दोषेषु यत्नः सुमहान्खलस्य |
अवेक्षते  केलिवनं प्रविष्ठः कमेलकः कन्टकजालमेव          ||
                                                            - सुभाषित रत्नाकर 

भावार्थ -         एक बडे ही दुष्ट व्यक्ति (साहित्यकार )के द्वारा कानों में अमृत के
समान मधुर लगने वाली सूक्तियों (काव्य) का आनन्द  लेने के बदले उनमें यत्न
पूर्वक केवल दोषों को खोजने की प्रवृत्ति वैसी ही है जैसे किसी सुन्दर उद्यान में जा
कर कोई ऊंट कंटीली झाडियों को ही खोज कर अपना  भरण पोषण करे |

(प्रस्तुत सुभाषित 'कविता' शीर्षक के अन्तर्गत संकलित है |  इस में उन दुष्ट साहित्य-
कारों  के ऊपर व्यङ्ग्य किया गया है जो अन्य साहित्यकारों की रचनाओं में केवल दोष
ही खोजते रहते हैं | )

Avekshate kelivanam pravishthah  kramelakah kantakajaalameva.

Karnaamruta =karnaa+ amruta.    Karnaa = ears.   Amruta =nectar.   Sookti =
beautiful verse.    Vimuchya =getting rid of, being detached from. Dosheshu=
defects.  Yatnah=with special care.   Sumahaan = a very.   Khalah = wicked
person.   Avekshate =searches, takes into cosideration.   Kelivanam=a garden.
Pravishthah = after entering.   Kramelakah =a camel.    Kantakajaalameva=
Kantaak+ jaalam+ eva .     Kantaka = thorns.   Jaala = a cluster of. Eva= thus.

i.e.     The tendency among very wicked persons (poets and authors) who take
special care in finding faults in the beautiful verses pleasing to the ears like the
nectar (Amruta) composed by other poets is just like a camel who after entering
in a beautiful garden searches for a cluster of thorny bushes to feed himself.

(This Subhashita is a satire on the tendency among poets for finding only faults
in the poetry of other poets. Such poets have been compared to a camel, who
subsists on thorny bushes.)
