आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

क्षुद्राः  सन्ति  सहस्रशः स्वभरणव्यापारमात्रोद्यताः
स्वार्थो  यस्य  परार्थ एव स पुमानेकः सतामग्रणी:   |
दुष्पूरोदर पूरणाय  पिवति स्रोतःपति  वाडवो
जीमूतस्तु  निदाघसंभृतजगत्सन्तापविच्छित्तये   ||
                            -  सुभाषित रत्नाकर (सभा तरंग )

भावार्थ  - ऐसे व्यक्ति तो हजारों की संख्या में होते हैं जो अपना भरणपोषण
करने के लिये व्यापार आदि कार्यों में लिप्त रहते हैं | लेकिन जिस व्यक्ति का
स्वार्थ (मुख्य उद्देश्य) वास्तव में अन्य लोगों का हित साधन  (सहायता) करना
होता है ऐसा व्यक्ति सज्जन और दयालु  व्यक्तियों में सदैव अग्रणी होता है |
उदाहरणार्थ सभी नदियों का जल पी पी कर भी समुद्र का पेट कभी नहीं भरता है
और उसके अन्दर सदैव वाडवाग्नि जलती रहती है | परन्तु वहीं बादल उसी समुद्र
से जल प्राप्त कर ग्रीष्म ऋतु में गर्मी से तप्त और पीडित पृथ्वी के सन्ताप को
जलवृष्टि के द्वारा दूर कर देते हैं |

Kshudraah  santi sahasrashah svabharana-vyaapaara-maatro-ddyataah.
Svaartho yasya paraartha eva sa pumaa-nekah  sataam-agranee.
Dushpoorodara pooranaaya  pivati srotahpati  vaadavo.
Jeemootastu nidaagha-smbhruta-jagat-santaapa-vicchittaye.

Kshudraah =small,  petty.   Santi  =are     Sahasrashah = by thousands .
Svabharana = self sustenance.  Vyaapaara = business.   Maatra = only.
Udyataa =engaged in.    Svaartho = one's own aim or objective.   Yasya=
whose.    Paraartha = intent upon others' welfare.   Eva = really.   Sa =
that.   Pumaanekah =pumaan + ekah.    Pomaan = man.   Ekah = one.
Sataamagranee =sataam+agranee.  Sataam=noble and virtuous persons.
Agranee = in the forefront.  Dushpoora =difficult to be filled or satisfied.
Udarapooranaaya =for supporting oneself.  Pivati =drinks.   Srotahpati =
the Ocean.   Vaadavo = submarine fire.    Jeemootah =  Cloud.   Tu =and,
but.     Nidaagha =Summer season.    Sambhruta = caused by,       Jagat=
the World.   Santaapa = grief, heat.    Vicchattaye = cessation, prevention.

i.e.  Ordinary people who are engaged in business and other profession for
their self-sustenance ,  are available in thousands, but such a person whose
aim in life is to dedicate himself for the welfare of poor and needy persons,
is foremost among all noble and virtuous persons. For instance,although the
Ocean gets water from all sources, but still its belly is never full and a fire
burns inside it. On the other hand the clouds which get the water from the
Ocean, they distribute it by their rain over the earth and save it from  the
scorching heat of the summer season.
