आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

किं  मृष्टं  सुतवचनं  पुनरपि मृष्टं  तदेव  सुतवचनम्  |
मृष्टान्मृष्टतरं  किं  श्रुतिपरिपक्वं  तदेव  सुतवचनम्  ||
                                   -सुभाषित रत्नाकर (कल्पतरु )

भावार्थ -  एक छोटे बालक द्वारा कहे हुए  तोतले बोल  क्यों अच्छे और
सुन्दर लगते हैं और वे ही बोल उसके द्वारा बार बार  कहने पर भी क्यों
अच्छे लगते हैं ?  और जब बालक उन्हीं बोलों  का स्पष्ट उच्चारण करने
लगता है तो तब भी वे ही बोल और भी अधिक सुन्दर क्यों लगते है  ?

(बाल्यावस्था में जब बालक  सर्वप्रथम बोलना सीखते हैं तो उनकी तोतली
बोली पर उनके माता पिता को जिस आनन्द की अनुभूति होती है  उसी का
वर्णन इस सुभाषित में एक प्रश्न के रूप में किया गया है |)

Mrushtaanmrushtataram  kim shrutiparipaakam tadeva
sutavachanam.

Kim = why ?   Mrushtam = lovely, charming.   Sutavachanam=
the words spoken by a child (offspring)    Punarapi = punah +
api.   Punah = again.   Api = even.  Tadeva = that.   Mrushtaat-
mrushtataram = lovelier.  Shruti =listening.  Paripaakvam= perfect. 

i.e.    Why the parents love the babble and prattle of their small children
even when the same is repeated ?   And why is it that when the children
are able to speak perfectly the parents love and appreciate it more ?

(When small children learn to speak, their babbling and prattling is a
source of joy to their parents.   The same has been highlighted in the
above Subhasita by way of asking questions.)
