आज का सुभाषित /Today's Subhashita .

भद्रंभद्रं  कृतं  मौनं  कोकिलैर्जलदागमे
वक्तारो दर्दुरा  यत्र  तत्र  मौनं  समाचरेत्  ||
                 - सुभाषित रत्नाकर (सभा तरंग )

भावार्थ -    अरी कोयलो  !  तुमने  यह बहुत अच्छा किया  कि वर्षा
 ऋतु के आगमन पर तुमने मौन धारण कर लिया है | जिस स्थान
पर  मेंढक  टर्र्रा रहे हों वहां मौन धारण करना  ही उचित है |

यह सुभाषित भी एक अन्योक्ति है |  वसन्त ऋतु में जब प्रकृति
अपने सुन्दरतम  रूप में होती है तो कोयल की कुहू कुहू ध्वनि बहुत
प्रिय लगती है |इस के विपरीत मैंढक एक समूह बनाकर जब्र टर्राने
लगते हैं वह ध्वनि बहुत अप्रिय होती है |  लाक्षणिक रूप से इस सुभाषित
द्वारा यह  प्रतिपादित  किया है कि विद्वान व्यक्तियों की इच्छाशक्ति
इतनी अधिक होती है कि कुसंगति का उन पर बुरा प्रभाव नहीं पडता है
तथा वे  उनके कार्य कलापों में सम्मिलित न हो कर चुप रहना ही श्रेयस्कर
समझते हैं  | इस  सुभाषित के अनुवाद जैसा ही कविवर रहीम का यह दोहा
 बहुत प्रसिद्ध है :-      जो रहीम उत्तम प्रकृति  का करि सकत कुसंग |
                               चन्दन विष व्यापत नहीं लपटे रहते भुजंग |

Vaktaaro.   darduraa  yatrta  tatra maunam  samaachret.

Bhadram =good,  Krutam= done.   Msunam = silence.
Kokilaih =  cuckoo bird.   Jaladaagame =arrival  of  the
clouds i,e  onset of rainy season.  Vaktaaro = speakers.
Darduraa = frogs    Yatra = where.  Tatra -  there.
Maunam = silence.  Samaacharet = practise thoroughly.

i.e     O cuckoo bird  !   you have taken a very correct
decision by remaining  silent on the onset of the rainy
season. In a place where frogs are croaking, it is always
better to observe  silence. Figuratively it means that noble
persons should better dissociate from the activities of lowly
persons.

(This subhashita is also an allegory.. In the spring season
when the Nature  is at its best, the cuckoo bird tweets as
'kuhoo kuhoo', which is very pleasing to the ears, whereas
with the   onset of the rainy season  frogs come out as a
group and start croaking, which is very unpleasant to hear.
The idea behind the subhashita is that it is advisable to
better dissociate from the activities of wicked persons.)
