आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

राजपत्नी  गुरोः  पत्नी  मित्रपत्नी  तथैव  च  |
पत्नीमाता स्वमाता च पञ्चैताः मातर: स्मृताः ||
                                    - चाणक्य नीति (५/२२ )

भावार्थ -   राजा की  पत्नी, अपने गुरु की पत्नी, अपने
मित्र की पत्नी, तथा उसी प्रकार अपनी पत्नी की माता
(सास) और  स्वयं अपनी माता , इन पांचों को सामाजिक 
मान्यता के अनुसार माता के समान ही सम्मान प्राप्त है |

Raajapatnee  guroh  patne  mitrapatnee tathaiva  cha.
Patneemaataa  svamaataa cha  panchaitaah maatarah
Smrutaah.

Raajapatnee = Queen (King's  wife)   Guroh = Teacher's.
Patnee = wife.     Mitrapatnee = a friend 's  wife.
Tathaiva = similarly.   Cha = and.    Pattnee maataa= wife's
mother, mother-in-law.   Svamaataa = one's own mother.
Panchaitaaah = these five.    Maatarah  =  mothers.
Smrutaah = enjoined by the traditional law or usage.

i.e.     The King's wife, the Teacher's wife, a friend's  wife,
one's own mother and wife's mother (mother-in-law), all
these five categories of women are termed as a mother by
the traditional usage and are honoured accordingly.
