आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

पक्षिणः काकश्चण्डालः  पशूनां  चैव  कुक्कुरः |
मुनीनां  पापश्चण्डालः सर्वचाण्डाल  निन्दकः  ||
                                     - चाणक्य नीति (६/२)

भावार्थ -   पक्षियों में कव्वा सबसे नीच प्राणी है और वैसे ही पशुओं
में कुत्ता नीच है |   मुनियों (तपस्वियों ) में पापकर्मों मे लिप्त रहने
वाले  व्यक्ति , तथा वे सभी  व्यक्ति जो अन्य व्यक्तियों  की विना
किसी कारण के निन्दा करते हैं वे भी नीच होते हैं |

( वर्तमान संदर्भ में कव्वे तथा कुत्ते नीच  प्राणियों  की श्रेणी में नहीं आते
हैं और इसके विपरीत कुत्ता मनुष्य का सबसे अच्छा मित्र कहलाता है और
कव्वे को पर्यावरण को स्वच्छ करने  वाला माना जाता है |   अतएव  इस
सुभाषित को तदनुसार ही लिया जाय |)

Pakshinah kaakaashchandaalah pashoonaam chaiva kukkurah.
Muneenaam paapashchandaalah  sarvachaandaal  nindakah.

Pakshinaam = among the birds.   Kaakah +chandalah.   Kaakah=
a crow.   Chandaalah = outcast.    Pashoonaam = among the animals.
Chaiva = similarly.    Kukkurah = a dog.   Munneenaam = among
the ascetic.   Paapah + chandaalah.   Paapah = evil, wicked person.
Sarva = every.    Chaandaala = outcast.       Nindakah = an abusive
person.

i.e.  Among the birds a crow is considered as an outcast and likewise
among the animals a dog is considered as an outcast. Among  the
ascetics, one who is involved in evil deeds is an outcast and every
persons who abuse other persons without any reason is an outcast.

(In the present context crows and dogs are not considered as outcast.
On the other hand crows are considered as Nature' scavengers and
protector of environment,and the dog as the most faithful friend of
the man.  This Subhashita may please be treated accordingly . )
