आज का सुभाषित / Today's Subhashita.

पठन्ति   चतुरो  वेदान्धर्मशास्त्राण्यनेकशः  |
आत्मानं  नैव   जानन्ति  दर्वी पाकरसं  यथा ||
                             - चाणक्य नीति (१५/१२ )

भावार्थ =   कर्मकाण्ड कराने वाले चतुर  पुरोहित  वेदों तथा
अनेक धर्मशास्त्रों का पाठ अपने यजमानों के लिये करते हैं,
पर उनमें वर्णित परब्रह्म परमेश्वर से उसी प्रकार निर्लिप्त
रहते हैं  जिस प्रकार एक  दर्वी ( रसयुक्त भोजन को पकाने
और परोसने वाला करछुल ) उस भोजन के रस से निर्लिप्त
रहता है  |

Pathanti  chaturo  vedandharmashaastraanyanwkashah.

Aatmaanam naiva jaananti  darvee paakarasam  yathaa,

Pathanti = read,    Chaturo = cleaver  priests.   Vedaam +
Dharmshaastraani  + anekashah.     Vedaam= the Sacred
Vedas.   Dharmashaastraani =  Religious treatises.
Anekashah = many.    Aatmaanam = the Supreme Spirit.   
Naiva =not.     Jaananti  = know.     Darvee = a ladle ,
big serving spoon,   Paakrasam = Cooked soup.   Yathaa =
for instance,  just like a.

i.e.      Cleaver priests performing religious rituals for their
clients recite  aloud various Vedas and religious treatises,
but  they do not remain in communion with the Supreme
Spirit,  just like a ladle used for cooking and serving cooked
soup remains  unaffected by the soup.
