शान्ति तुल्यं तपो नास्ति तोषान्न परमं सुखम्
नास्ति तृष्णापरो व्याधिर्न च धर्मो दयापरः
Shanti tulyam Tapo nsaasti Toshaann paramam sukham,
Naasti Trushnaaparo vyadhir na cha Dharmo dayaaparah.
i.e. There is no self purifying process equal to attaining peace of mind, and no bliss equal to being satisfied over one's lot. There no disease bigger than excessive desire or craving for any worldly thing and no tenet of Religion greater than kindness towards all living beings.
Shanti = peace of mind, tranquility. Tapa = a self purifying process of disciplining oneself by shedding undesirable traits, penance. Na + Asti = Naasti i.e. does not exist.
Tosha (Santosh) = being satisfied at whatever one possesses. Paramam = supreme
Sukham = bliss, highest happiness. Vyaadhi = disease. Trushna = excessive desire to acquire any worldly thing, thirst. Dharmo = Religion. Daya = kindness. Parah = greater than.
