To day's Subhashit.

सर्पः क्रूरः खलः क्रूरः सर्वात्क्रूरतरः खलः  |
मंत्रेण शाम्यते सर्पो न खलं शाम्यते कदा. ||

Sarpah kroorah khalh kroorah sarvaatkrooratarah khalah.
mantrena shaamyate sarpo na khalam shyaamyate kadaa.

Sarpa = a snake.    Kroor =cruel, pitiless.   Khala = a wicked person.   Sarvaat = among all.
krooratarah = cruelest.    Mantrena = by a 'Mantra'    Mantra = a sacred hymn or a formula, said to
have mystical curative powers, when recited with devotion and as per the prescribed procedure.
Shaamyate = subdued , tamed.      Kadaa = never.

i.e.      A snake is cruel and pitiless and so also a wicked person.   But a wicked person is the cruelest and pitiless, because a snake can be tamed and subdued by reciting a 'Mantra', but a wicked person can never be subdued or controlled.
