Api meroopamam praagyamapi shooramapi sthiram.
Trunee karoti trushnaikaa nimishena narottamam.

Api = even.    Meroopamam = Meru +upamam.     Meru = the legendary mountain referred in the scriptures of Hindu religion, known for its majestic height.     Upaman= simialar to.
Praagyamapi = praagya + api .   Praagya = a wise and learned  person.   Shooramapi = shoor + api. Shoor = a warrior, a brave person.     Sthiram =stable, firm, persevering.    Truna = a blade of grass.    Trunee =insignificant like a blade of grass.   Karoti = makes.   Trushnaikaa = very strong desire.   Nimishena =  'Nimesh' is the measure of time in Sanskrit i.e. the time taken in blinking an eye lid.     Narottamam = best of men.

i.e.       Even wise and learned persons as great as the Meru mountain and warriors known for their perseverance and firmness, become insignificant like a blade of grass in no time, if they are obsessed with excessive desire ( for luxuries and riches, fame, power etc).
