Today's Subhashita. (Discourse between Bheeshma and Yudhishthara about 'Rajdharma; (continued).

     From today onward,  I will post Shlokas dealing with Diplomacy, which is an integral part of"Rajdharma", detailed in Chapter 57 of  the 'Shanti Parva' of Mahabharata.

Bheeshma says -  Nityoddyuktena vai Raajaa bhavitavyam yudhishthara.
                            Prashasyate na Raajaa hi naarivoddyamvarjitah.

Nityoddyuktena = Nitya +udyyktena.      Nitya = every day. always.    Udyuktena = industrious.
Wai =  an  adverb placed after a word to lay stress on it.    Raagyaa = king.    Bhavitavyam = must be.
Prashsyate = praised, appreciated.    Na = not.     Hi = surely.   Naarivoddyamvarjitah = Naari + iva+ uddyam+ varjitah.      Naari = women    iva = like.     Uddyam = continuous and strenuous efforts.
Varjitah = without, excluded.

Bheeshma says to Yudhishthsara -  O Yudhishthara !  A king must always be industrious. A king, who is not so  and remains idle like women (who are not supposed to undertake strenuous jobs like men),  is not praised  and revered by his subjects.
