Today's Subhashita.

आलस्यं  हि  मुनष्याणां  शरीरस्थो  महान्  रिपुः |
नास्त्युद्यमसमो बन्धुः कृत्वाSयं  नाSवसीदति  ||

अर्थ -      सचमुच आलस्य  (अकर्मण्यता) एक व्यक्ति के शरीर में स्थित एक महान शत्रु के समान होता है ,     और इस के विपरीत उद्यमिता और कर्मठता के समान कोई   मित्र नहीं होता है,  जिसका अनुसरण  करने वाला व्यक्ति अपने जीवन में  कभी भी  अवसादित और परास्त नहीं होता है.|

Aalasyam hi manushyaanaam shareerastho mahaan ripuh.
Naastyudyamsamo  bandhuh krutvaayam naavaseedati.

Aalasya = idleness, laziness.    Hi = surely       Manushyaanaam =  persons, individuals.
Shareerastho = existing in the body.     Mahaan = great.     Ripuh =   enemy.
Naastyudyamo = Na +asti +udyam+samo.     Na = not.     Asti = is.     Udyamo = diligence, industriousness
Samo - equal to.     Bandhuh = friend .       Krutyaayam =  Krutvaa +ayam        Krutvaa = having done.  
Ayam = this.  Naavaseedati = Na + avaseedati          Avaseedati =  perishes,  gets disheartened, depressed.

i.e.        Idleness and laziness existing in a person is like a great enemy to him, and there is no friend equal to diligence and industriousness, and by doing so one never gets disheartened and depressed in his lifetime.
