Upadesho na daatavyo yaadrushe taadrushe nare.
pashya vaanar moorkhena sugrahe nigrahee krutaa .
upadesho = advice, guidance. Na = not. Daatavyo =to be given. Yaadrushe = anybody
Taadrushe = anybody whosoever. Nare = people. Pashya = see, look. Vaanar = monkey.
Moorkhena = by a fool. Sugrahee = (i) one having a nice house (ii) name of a particular bird.
Nigrahee = homeless, overthrown. Krutaa = made, turned into.
i.e. One should not give (unsolicited) advice to anybody whosoever. Look ! what the foolish monkey did to 'sugrahee' bird, by destroying its beautiful nest and making it homeless.
(Here the reference is to a fable about a monkey and a bird known for its beautifully crafted nests dangling firmly from the branches of trees. During a winter storm a monkey was shivering on a branch of a tree, whereas the bird was cosily settled inside its nest. Seeing the pitiable condition of the monkey, the bird gave advice to the monkey as to why he did not construct a shelter for himself, he being better equipped to do so Enraged by this unsolicited advice, instead of appreciating it, the monkey broke down the nest of the bird, thus making it also homeless. So, the moral of the story is that unsolicited advice should not be given to all and sundry, which may even cause harm to the giver of the advice.)
