Today's Subhashita.

अपुत्रत्वं भवच्छ्रेयो न तु स्याद्विगुणः सुतः |
जीवन्नप्यविनीतोSसौ  मृत एव न संशयः  ||

अर्थ -    एक गुणहीन पुत्र के होने से तो पुत्र हीन होना ही श्रेयस्कर है क्योंकि ऐसा पुत्र जीवनपर्यन्त दुर्व्यवहार करने वाला, दुःख दायी  तथा असहनशील होता है और इस में कोई  संशय नहीं कि ऐसे पुत्र का मृत होना ही  श्रेयस्कर है |

Aputratvam bhavacchreyo na tu syaadvigunah sutah.
Jeevannpyavineetosau mruta eva na sanshyah.

Aputratvam = not having any son.   Bhavatcchreyo = bhavat +shreyo.     Bhavat = being/
Shreyo = creditable.     Na = not.      Tu = but.       Syaadvigunah = syaat +vigunah.
Syaat = perhaps.     Vigunah = without any virtues, worthless.     Sutah = son.
Jeevannapyavineetosau =jeevan + api +avineeto +asau.    Jevan =  (while) alive.     Api= even.
Avineeta = rude, misbehaving.     Asah = intolerant, incapable.    Mruta = dead.   Aiva = really
Sanshaya = doubt.

i.e.         It is better not to have a son rather than having a worthless son without any virtues, because so long he will be alive he will  be rude, intolerant, and incapable . No doubt,  such a worthless son be dead rather than remain  alive.
