Today's Subhashita/

अरण्ये पुष्पिता वृक्षा: दूरस्थाने  च बान्धवाः |
समृद्धेनापि किं तेन  यः काले  नोपतिष्ठति ||

अर्थ -    एक घने  जंगल मे पुष्पित वृक्ष तथा सूदूर स्थान में रहने वाले रिश्तेदार यदि समृद्ध भी हों  तो
उसका कोई  लाभ नहीं है , क्योंकि आवश्यकता के समय वे उपलब्ध ही नहीं होते हैं |

Aranye pushpitaa vrukshaah doorasthaane cha baandhavaah .
Samruddhenaapai kim ten yah kaale nopatishthati.

Aranye = a forest.     Pushpitaa = blooming.     Brukshaah = trees.     Doorasthaane = far away.
Cha = and.      Baandhavaah = close relatives.      Samruddhenaapi = samruddhen +api.
Samruddhena  = prosperous.      Api = even (to express emphasis)     Kim =  what.     Tean= therefore.
Yah = that      Kale = timely.   Nopatoishthati = na +upatishthati     Na = not.  Upatishthati = be present.

i.e.       Trees blooming with flowers  in a remote forest, and close relatives living at far away places,
even if they may be prosperous, are of no use ,as they are not available at a time when they are most needed.
